Facts:
- All black pepper is grown in 3rd world countries.
- A large percentage of the pepper crop is grown by independent family farmers.
- The technique for producing this crop hasn’t changed for 1000’s of years.
- The picked pepper berries are covered in a pile and allowed to mold. Then they are sun dried which produces the pungent flavor but also can contain contaminants.
- This process creates a product that has to be fumigated before it is allowed into the USA.
